Pongola River Experiance

It all started last year when after trying to arrange a fishing trip for some local Tigerfish on the Pongola River that a forum member from Flytalk.co.za suggested I speak to Peter Calverly from the Pongola River Company. Glad I did cause is was not 2 weeks later and I was booked in for a weekend at his riverside camp on the banks of the beautiful Pongola River and into my first home grown Tigerfish! (he got away thought, haha) Well long story short, I landed a few babies and lost a few big mammas. but what will keep me going back was a fish I saw landed by a young lad on the trip with his father and gran father. Just look at this…

So earlier in November this year I was back to get myself one of these 10 pounders. The water was dirty this time around but the fishing was not affected at all. My mate and I only fished for one day and landed around 40 tigers each. Not all big mammas but great fun non the less. That 10 pounder still eludes me… I will be back!!!

This is what the river looked like last year
